Contempt of Court

There are situations when people fail to do what the Judge has ordered them to do.  This can be from a temporary or permanent order.  If the Judge determines that a party has violated a court order under the Code of Iowa, the violating party can be reprimanded in a number of ways including repayment of attorneys’ fees, court costs, and in some cases a jail sentence. These types of proceedings are common regarding failure to pay child support, failure to follow a child visitation schedule, failure to pay a property settlement or alimony, or failure to pay the other party’s attorneys’ fees.
